Premiere: Reelow – Homegrown NYC 2022 [Pakate Records]

Jean Pierre kicks off a brand new label Pakate Digital with a superb nine track compilation. It features a wealth of innovative house talents such as Guti, FLETCH, Reelow, Mahony, Daniel Orpi and of course Jean Pierre himself.

Jean Pierre is the main man from New York City, a Cuttin’ Headz associate and DJ and producer with a great reputation built up over the last 15 years. Jean has always been dedicated to finding unique records that transform his sets, and this new label is another fine reflection of that.

La Familia from Guti feat. Flor Del Valle opens up with a steamy house vibe filled with Latin percussive flair. Jean Pierre then links with FLETCH for the chunky house cut Tucker with its silky drum rotations and sleazy vocals. FLETCH’s solo cut Vos then brings a stripped back and scuffed up minimal house vibe that is littered with toms, vocal samples and icy hi hats. Reelow amps up the pressure with a sweat-inducing house cut complete with razor sharp synth designs and superb snares and hi hats dancing up top.

Blair Suarez & Joseph Edmund & REME combine to great effect for Don’t Talk, a sped out and trippy house tune for the after hours, and Daniel Orpi keeps it deep and heady on the dubbed out groove that is Candy Mouth with its well sampled vocals and kinetic kicks. Ramoss & Jey Mellen offer the pumping house of Melaza with its woodpecker hits and another ghetto vocal, before Jean Pierre offers Bongo Bass, a heavy track with quickened drums and a DIY percussive feel that is packed with detail. Mahony’s Montanita closes out with a high speed and seductive electronic house cut lit up by great melody and soulful vocal stabs,

This is a standout start to life for this sure to be essential new label.
