Premiere: Agustin Alvarez – Morale (Harry Wills Remix) [Futura]

Leon’s new label Futura, continues to make waves in the minimal deep scene with the 3rd release on the label, this time coming from Agustin Alvarez which features Andy Catana and comes with killer remixes from Harry Wills and Politics Of Dancing.

The now Portugal based Argentinian DJ producer, Agustin Alvarez has releases on labels like Drumma Records, Bodypart Records, Kosmophono, Serkal, Wavetech Music, Draft and Sponik Music, his produced work clearly presents the sound he tries to bring. Supported by artists like tINI, Raresh, Luciano, Valentino Kanzyani, Barac, Zendid, Pablo Cahn, Javier Carballo, Archie Hamilton, Onno and Jessica Diaz to name a few, he brings a clean focus on pleasing those with an ear for the dub touch while seeking a groovy minimal atmosphere.

The first track on the release is Morale. This is a classy minimal track, with an iconic filtered low end synth, chugging undertones from the kick and sub, this gets a light and airy feel from the chords and pads as the track progresses. This is an excellent minimal track to start off the EP. Next up is Know Your Limits which is co-produced by Andy Catana. This is a more upbeat track, yet retains a minimal and deep feel with a prominent bassline, deep yet uplifting chords worked well into the track with a great touch of musicality.

The release comes with two remixes, the first of which is from Harry Wills. Wills has been building up a name for himself across various releases on labels like Holding Hands, 2X, Lemak and Subsequent. For his remix of Morale, he gives this a more house flavoured beat whilst retaining a lot of the minimal feel from the original. Last but certainly not least Leon brings in Politics Of Dancing for the remix of Know Your Limits. For this remix the Frenchman converts this into a sublime irrepressible deep rolling groove which finishes off this package perfectly
